When reading this the other day, I didn’t think it was possible to take advantage of this offer by buying gift cards and so hadn’t posted about it. It turns out you can do that though.
To use this offer on a gift card, you first need to save this offer on your PayPal account using the link above. Next, tap the ‘Gift’ menu button at the bottom of the Starbucks app. Change the amount to $10 (it defaults to $20) and then tap ‘Checkout’. When it gives you an option to choose the payment method, tap the existing payment method and then tap ‘Add payment method’. At the bottom of the next page, PayPal will be listed as an option. When doing this, it should automatically deduct $5 from the total.
There are currently targeted Chase Offers and Amex Offers for Starbucks. I’m not sure if those will stack when paying with one of those cards via PayPal, but it probably doesn’t hurt to try in order to save a little more.
