Every so often changes are made in the gift card game that can have both positive and negative effects.
One example of a negative effect is that a nationwide grocery store chain might change the issuer of certain cards, going from a bank that you might find at high Altitude to one that sounded like it’s the bank of Facebook’s parent company before recently changing their name to something that sounds like it might be a route through a hospital. The reason that would be a negative effect is because it can be hard for some people to be able to use those specific cards to buy pieces of paper.
While that kind of change will be disappointing in some ways, whenever there are changes of this nature you might find that things don’t work in the way you might expect them to, but in a way that works in your favor. This can fuel your opportunity to earn more rewards; for example, you might want to ensure you clip digital coupons that you might otherwise not normally bother clipping.
And yes, there’s a deliberate reason why I’m being vague about this. And no, there’s no need to comment below to ask “Does this mean xxxx store is offering xxxx when buying xxxx.” Give things a try to see what works.
Thanks to ZinCO who commented on a separate post to mention that there might happen to be an opportunity such as this. These kinds of things don’t last though, so if you’re going to test out purchases, you might want to do that sooner rather than later.
i think this might be the reason , all those variable card has been cleaned out from shelf in my store , either by the staff or whales
No dice with a 500 purchased at the grocery store that sounds like the VP got dizzy.
Wrong nationwide chain, I think.
Cute post! I enjoyed the puzzle. I just wish this mystery national grocery chain allowed redemption of points for groceries, like the other large national grocery chain. For those of us with small gas tanks on fuel-efficient hybrids, these points are just not that valuable as a percentage of the spend required. Hope others can partake if they value these points more.
Some people sell them. Others fill up gas cans and fill up their hybrids later.
This glitch didn’t happen to work for anybody during the identical promo that just started today, did it? I ask cuz it didn’t work for me today, I’m just not certain if I bought the same variant of this card as ZinCo. Mine had green packaging.
Give things a try to see what works.
No thanks. $500 too steep for me to throw away on deliberate vagueness. You lost me on this one.
