Tips & Ideas

The terms of the Amex Offer lists a specific URL to use, but that redirects to the Microsoft store. You’d therefore be better off clicking through from a shopping portal to earn cashback on the purchase if you’ll be buying an actual product from Microsoft.

That’ll be good for personal use and product resellers, but there’s also a gift card play here. The Microsoft Store online sells both Xbox and Microsoft gift cards and you can presumably buy both of those in-store too as this Amex Offer can be used both in-store and online.

Getting 25,000 Membership Rewards for $1,000 of spend is a fantastic deal. Even if you value MR at 1cpp (cent per point), this could still be a profitable deal depending on the rates available to you. If you value them at 1.5cpp, you’re effectively getting 37.5% back.

I only had a 25,000 Membership Rewards version of this Microsoft Store Amex Offer on a couple of my cards, but there might be a $250 statement credit version of the offer floating around. If there is and you’re targeted for it, you’ll be able to load both the $250 and 25,000 MR versions of the offers to different cards.
