The terms exclude gift card purchases, but that likely refers to the fact that buying a Marriott gift card online won’t trigger the statement credit from this Amex Offer. If you can find a property from one of Marriott’s eligible brands (i.e. one not excluded in the list of terms above) that sells gift cards, buying it from the front desk should trigger the Amex Offer.
