Tips & Ideas
The terms exclude gift cards, but it should be possible to buy a $500 Marriott gift card from the front desk in order to trigger the $100 statement credit from this Amex Offer in order to lock in the 20% discount if you’re not planning on staying at these brands by the end of the year.
The biggest problem with this will be finding a property that a) sells Marriott gift cards and b) knows how to sell them. I’ve always struck out when trying to find Marriott properties that sell gift cards, so good luck to you!
I had this Marriott Amex Offer available on a couple of Platinum cards, Marriott cards and a Delta Gold card, but not on any of my Amex Gold cards. My wife got it on an Amex Gold card though, so it seems to be randomly targeted. Having it available on a Marriott card is ideal though as it means you’ll earn 6x on the purchase.
