Tips & Ideas
Lenovo sells Xbox gift cards, so you can buy those to lock in the 20% discount from this Amex Offer. Note that Lenovo sells a number of different types of Xbox gift cards – Xbox Live, Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass, etc. The ones you want if you’re buying to resell are Xbox Live gift cards for round amounts (e.g. $100, $50) rather than anything ending in .99.
Click through from a shopping portal in case the purchase tracks – here are the current rates.
Lenovo charges sales tax on gift cards
That shouldn’t happen – apparently they’re aware of the issue and are hoping to fix it, but who knows how promptly that’ll happen.
It’s been this way for some time so either they are slow to fix it, don’t care, or don’t know how to.
Stephen & Justin, the chat team even BS to me that lenovo does charge sales tax on GCs
They canceled my order of $500 with no reason given… This looks like Dell all over again. Are they better with smaller orders?
And I should note… they did not show tax on that order. Now when I log in to try a smaller order, the $100 card (and only that one) has tax included as Justin noted below.
Canceled again, a small order this time. I give up, it’s not worth the aggravation dealing with these guys. The 8x Rakuten MR is the only thing that is potentially appealing about this.
They don’t seem to sell gift cards.
It seems like they’ve delisted the Xbox gift cards as they were there in the past. Not sure if that’s due to this Amex Offer and that they’ll put them back up after, or if they’ve sold out of them due to the AO.
