Another week, another Kroger 4x fuel point promotion, not that I’m complaining. Be aware that even though you can load the digital coupon to your account now, you’ll only earn 4x fuel points between Friday May 24 and Monday May 27.
Taking advantage of these digital coupons has the potential to be profitable if you have a large enough gas tank. Buying a $250 gift card will earn you 1,000 fuel points, good for $1 off per gallon on up to 35 gallons. If you can fill up with all 35 gallons, you’d be saving 14%. That means if you can resell a gift card (e.g. Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc.) for more than 86% then you’ll make a profit, on top of any credit card rewards you’ll receive.
The equations for the $25, $50 and $100 Visa and Mastercard gift cards are a little different though because you also have to factor in the activation fees on those cards. Still, so long as you can fill up at least 13.5 gallons, you’ll be coming out ahead when buying the $100 cards.
