Kroger had a similar deal last week, although those digital coupons were only valid over the Memorial Day weekend. Both of these 4x fuel point digital coupons are valid for the next two weeks, so that provides plenty of time to take advantage of them.
These digital coupons have the potential to be profitable if you have a large gas tank or more than one vehicle to refuel. You’ll earn 1,000 fuel points for every $25o spent on third party gift cards. Those 1,000 fuel points can then be used to take $1 off per gallon on up to 35 gallons. If you can fill up with all 35 gallons, you’ll save 14%. That means if you can resell a gift card (e.g. Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc.) for more than 86% then you’ll make a profit, on top of any credit card rewards you’ll receive. CardCash is currently paying 87% for Best Buy gift cards, so this can be profitable even if you don’t have any bulk selling relationships.
The equations for the $25, $50 and $100 Visa and Mastercard gift cards work out differently because you have to factor in the activation fees. Provided you can fill up with at least 13.5 gallons though, you’ll come out ahead when buying $100 Visa or Mastercard cards.
