(EXPIRED) Ibotta/Best Buy: Earn Cashback On Select Gift Cards (Bath & Body Works, The Children’s Place, Domino’s & More)

Update 12/24/21: I think the limits for these Ibotta/Best Buy deals have reset. As mentioned in the original post below, I think I’d inadvertently earned the bonus cashback for the AMC Theatres deal and that’s showing up for me again now. A few other deals had disappeared last night (including a couple I’m waiting bonus cashback on) and they’re back again.

Note that many of these only have a limit of one, so be sure to check the terms of each deal you want to take advantage of.

• Ibotta is offering cashback when buying the following gift cards from Best Buy online after clicking through from the Ibotta app:
  • $2 cashback
    • $20 Nintendo eShop
    • $25 The Children’s Place

    • $50 Fandango
    • $50 Regal Cinemas
    • $50 Texas Roadhouse
    • $50 Domino’s
    • $50 AMC Theatres(?)
  • $5 cashback
    • $100 Bath & Body Works

Tips & Ideas

While $2 or $5 cashback for these brands isn’t enough to make it worthwhile buying them, several of these gift cards are already on sale at Best Buy (e.g. here and here).

For example, you can buy a $100 Bath & Body Works gift card for $90 and then get $5 back from Ibotta for a net discount of 15%. Similarly, $25 The Children’s Place gift cards are discounted to $22.50, then you can get an additional $2 cashback for a net discount of 18%.

This is the first time that I’ve noticed Ibotta offering cashback on gift card purchases at Best Buy, but perhaps they’ve always been there and I’d simply not noticed similar offers in the past. Whether they’re a new kind of deal or not, hopefully they continue seeing as several of these offers correspond with discounts on Best Buy’s end which could potentially open up some interesting options for resellers.

Note that these deals are separate to the cashback Ibotta offers when buying gift cards in their own app. With these Best Buy deals, you have to click through to Best Buy from the ‘BestBuy.com’ listing on Ibotta and purchase the gift cards there. The cashback should track automatically – there’s no need to upload a receipt like you have to do with grocery offers in the Ibotta app.

Update: I think there might be an offer for AMC Theatres too. I earned $2.64 cashback when buying 3x $50 AMC Theatres gift cards for $42.50 each earlier which would correspond to earning a $2 bonus on one of those gift cards.
