Tips & Ideas
The only way you can normally get discounted Hyatt gift cards (that I’m aware of) is by buying physical cards at properties when there’s an Amex or Chase Offer, such as this Hyatt Place/Hyatt House Amex Offer.
By the end of the year we’ll have stayed in Hyatt properties for about 80 nights, most of those being category 1 properties booked using points. We do sometimes book paid stays at Hyatt Places, but they’re usually prepaid rates and so I don’t think it’s possible to redeem gift cards for those stays.
Despite that, I’ll likely purchase some of these discounted gift cards as we still have to fork out several hundred bucks a year to Hyatt; we travel with our dog, so we often have to pay pet fees of $75+ per stay. If only they waived pet fees for Globalist members.

[…] If you’re planning any paid Best Western stays in Q1 2020, this is a decent deal. The thing that’s disappointing is that the bonus comes as a promo card that expires at the end of March 2020, so there’s no point buying these if you won’t be staying before then. At least the Fairmont deal offers a 20% bonus that’s a regular gift card and so never expires, while Hyatt is offering a straight 10% discount. […]
