If any readers are familiar with Hy-Vee gift card deals, would you mind confirming if buying $100 of Happy gift cards will get you 40c off per gallon, or if the maximum you earn is 20c off. The terms don’t specify either way; I suspect you’d earn 40c off per gallon, but it’s not clear that’s definitely the case.
Hy-Vee Fuel Saver + Perks can be used on up to 20 gallons of gas. If you bought a $50 Happy gift card, you’d save a maximum of $4 on gas, so up to 8%. Those are OK savings, but it’s unlikely to make it worth doing for reselling unless you have access to some good rates on one of the gift card brands sold at Home Depot or Bed Bath & Beyond and/or you want to rack up some grocery store bonused spend.
Just in case you missed the news earlier, MetaBank has added wording excluding third party gift card purchases. It doesn’t seem to be hard coded at the stores involved and so it should still be possible, but cashiers might be on the lookout for people buying gift cards with Happy gift cards.
