Tips & Ideas
It hadn’t occurred to me that Home Chef sells gift cards on their website when this offer appeared the other day. A comment on Doctor of Credit confirms that buying a gift card triggers the Amex Offer.
Seeing as there’s a limit of three, you can get $150 in Home Chef gift cards to lock in this offer. I’m not sure if you can buy one $150 gift card or if you’d need to buy three $50 gift cards in separate transactions. I suspect the former will work, but it might be best to buy them in separate transactions just in case.
any datapoints that it worked for gift cards?
I haven’t had any luck testing this because they simply won’t take my payment.
I spoke too soon. I just tried placing another order and this one went through – I immediately received an email from Amex confirming that the transaction had tracked for $50.
I only bought a $50 gift card rather than a $100, so I’ll be buying two more in two more transactions. Buying a $150 gift card might work, but I don’t want to risk it being one $50 statement credit per transaction.
Did Home Chef take GCs and outsource them? Cuz there’s a new AMEX hook-up with Blue Cash that would be great to GC.
Yep, it looks like they’re processed by a third party now unfortunately.
