Great news for anyone in Texas – H-E-B gift card deals are back! They stopped all digital coupons about two months ago when COVID-19 hit, so it’s great to see them make a return.
I’d checked for deals on Wednesday as that’s when they’re updated each week but initially missed this because they didn’t mention ‘gift card’ in the description like normal and so it didn’t show up in the search results.
This deal is slightly different to the deals they tended to offer in the past as those usually involved getting a free H-E-B gift card rather than an instant discount. There’s a benefit to each type of offer; with this particular offer, you’re getting a $10 instant discount rather than having to mess around with a $10 H-E-B gift card. With the H-E-B gift card style offers though, paying full price initially means you’re able to rack up more spend and thereby earning more credit card rewards.
As always, pay with a card that earns more at grocery stores. The Chase Freedom card is earning 5% this quarter, while numerous Chase, Amex and Citi cards are temporarily earning bonuses.
