Giftcards.com has made a couple of changes to its rewards program. Previously, if you bought third party gift cards when there’s no promotion code being used to discount them, you’d earn 1% back in the form of G-Money Rewards. That program will now be known as Giftcards.com Rewards. While I’m sometimes cynical about rebranding efforts (*cough*Raise*cough*GCX*cough*Slide*cough*Raise*cough*), rebranding G-Money Rewards as Giftcards.com Rewards is an improvement that makes things a little more clear for purchasers.
With regards to the earning rate, you earn 1% back as standard on third party cards (not open loop cards like Visa and Mastercard gift cards). Apparently they’ll once again be boosting that earning rate for select brands. In years gone by they sometimes offered 2%-10% on select brands (particularly multi-store cards), so it’ll be interesting to see if they start offering any notable deals in this respect.
Fingers crossed that this doesn’t affect the frequency of deals where they give a straight discount because 10% off a brand is better than 10% back on a brand for the most part, other than the potential to double dip portal rewards.
Because G-points are something else entirely
