100 fuel points are worth 10c off per gallon on up to 20 gallons at Giant, Martin’s and Stop & Shop gas stations. Buying a $100 gift card will therefore earn you 800 fuel points, or 80c off per gallon. It doesn’t look like you need to load a digital coupon to take advantage of this deal – you just need to swipe your Giant card when checking out.
If you’re able to fill up your gas tank with 20 gallons, you’d save $16. You’d therefore effectively by buying Best Buy gift cards at an 84% rate. You can resell Best Buy gift cards at Cardpool (my referral link) for 88.5%, or even higher if you accept an Amazon gift card as payment rather than getting a check. That makes this a profitable deal for reselling, even before taking into account the bonus points you could earn by paying with a credit card that earns a bonus at grocery stores.
If you’re a bulk seller with other gift card resellers, you might be able to get an even better rate than 88.5%, making this deal even more profitable.
You can take a maximum of $1.50 per gallon off each fill-up which you’d earn by buying a $187.50 Best Buy gift card. Fuel points last 30 days from when you earned them, so if you’re likely to need to fill up more than once in the next month, buy more than $187.50 worth of gift cards.
