The Mastercard gift card offer is the better deal here, despite only being 3x vs the 8x for the Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops deal.
That’s because for every $500 Mastercard gift card you buy, you’ll earn 1,500 Gas Rewards points. You can then use those points to save $1.50 off per gallon on up to 20 gallons. That offers the potential for savings of $30 on gas which more than offsets the Mastercard activation fee.
The Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops deal is fairly good, offering the potential for 16% savings on gas. That’s not going to be particularly profitable for reselling, but is a good discount for personal use.
