Every $500 Mastercard gift card you buy can save you up to $20 off gas which will more than offset the Mastercard’s activation fee of $5.95. Not only will this deal be profitable (provided you can make use of the gas savings), but it’s also a great way to rack up some bonused grocery spend.
Some Giant and Martin’s stores in certain regions allow you to redeem your points for savings on groceries as well. I believe that 100 points saves you $1 on groceries, so every $500 Mastercard can alternatively save you $10 on groceries. While the savings aren’t as high on gas, it’s much easier to scale this deal when redeeming for groceries than it is for gas.
Yep, I’m hoping that Kroger was simply testing their systems before rolling something out to all customers because even at $0.75 per 100 points I’d be overjoyed given how easy it can be at times to earn a significant number of points.
