5x Gas Rewards Points can save you up to 10% on gas. While that doesn’t sound as good as their 8x or 10x offers they have most weeks, those deals are on select gift cards each week. This offer on the other hand is valid on all third party gift card brands including Amazon, Best Buy and Home Depot, so it could be profitable for reselling.
Note that Stop & Shop has a different gift card deal this week (these three chains normally have the same offers).
Curious you mention 5x gas rewards can save you up to 10%….. Maybe you meant 100%. (I haven’t paid for gas at Martin’s in cash this year…. or maybe this is one of those deals that we’re not supposed to spell out, lest we “kill it” — which of course ole’ Drew would tell us we can’t do….) In any case, yes, the 5x on “all” manufacturer’s gc’s is potentially much better than the 8x on hard to liquidate/use gc’s. Think Amazon and Best Buy.
I’m not familiar enough with Giant’s Gas Rewards points program, so I don’t know if there are any loopholes. I was going by their description of how the program works – 10c off per gallon for every 100 points earned with a limit of $1.50 off per gallon.
Spending $100 at 5x earns you 500 points, so good for 50c off per gallon on up to 20 gallons. That means the most you’d save is $10, so 10% of your original spend on gift cards. That can certainly be profitable on brands like Amazon and Best Buy, but I must be missing something about how their fuel program works if you’ve not had to pay anything for gas.
