Gas Rewards points at Giant, Martin’s and Stop & Shop can be used to save money on up to 20 gallons of fuel. If you spend $500 on Mastercard gift cards with this deal, you should earn 1,012 Gas Rewards points (including the activation fee). If you can fill to the 20 gallon limit, using 1,000 of those points will save you $20, more than offsetting the activation fee.
Be sure to pay with a credit card that earns more at grocery stores. Now that we’re in Q2 2019, the Chase Freedom card is offering 5x, so that’d be a good option.
