This is an excellent deal, especially when it comes to Visa gift cards, although several other brands like Best Buy, Lowe’s and GameStop could be profitable for reselling depending on how much you spend on groceries or can refuel.
Let’s say you bought a $200 Visa gift card. This would earn you 300 Fuelperks+ which could subsequently be redeemed for 12% off your next grocery shop or 60c off per gallon on up to 30 gallons.
That 12% off groceries is on any grocery amount. That means if you spent $100 on groceries, you’d save $12. If you spent $150, you’d save $18. Spend $200 on groceries and you’ll save $24. That means the more you spend on groceries, the more you’ll save. In this scenario, so long as you spent $50 or more on groceries, you’d more than offset the Visa gift card activation fee.
If you redeemed your Fuelperks+ at the gas pump instead, filling your vehicle(s) to the 30 gallon limit would save you $18. Filling up with less than 30 gallons though would affect the value of redeeming your Fuelperks+ on gas. In this scenario, you’d only need to fill up with 10 gallons or more to offset the Visa gift card activation fee.
Basically, do the math for how much you spend on groceries or gas to work out how profitable this deal will be for you and if any of the other gift card brands make sense for reselling.
