Tips & Ideas
The way these Giant Eagle deals work is that it gives a $10 instant discount per transaction regardless of how much you’re spending (provided it’s above $50). That means that if you add two $50 gift cards to your cart, you’ll still only get one $10 discount. You therefore need to buy $50 cards in separate transactions to get the full 20% discount each time.
Unlike Kroger, gift card purchases from Giant Eagle online code as a grocery purchase, so be sure to use a card that earns more at grocery stores.
Update: These deals weren’t showing as being live at the time of writing this post, but the 3x earning should show up soon.
Is this valid now? I’m not getting the $10 discount for Outback when clicking through the link and adding a $50 egift card.
It’s due to go live today, but it occasionally takes a few hours after midnight ET. I updated the post to mention that it wasn’t available just yet.
Not live yet.
I’ve tried multiple browsers, different cc’s and always get error message that system can’t process the transaction. Any thoughts?
I had that problem for a while when I first tried buying cards with them. A couple of possible tips:
1) If you use a VPN, turn that off.
2) Save a credit card to your account before checking out.
I heard the other day that your address might need to be within x number of miles of where they have stores. However, I’ve gotten orders through with Florida and Virginia addresses even though I don’t think they have stores in either state.
Keep trying though because you’ll hopefully eventually get them to accept an order. It’s a pain in the meantime though.
Thanks.
How do you save your cc to your account?
I only see that via an order.
Good point. I’d assumed I’d saved credit card details beforehand, but I must’ve saved them when placing an order that happened to make it through.
