Farewell – GC Galore Is No More

November 6, 2024 By Stephen Pepper 373 Comments

Farewell goodbye deal dead
I started GC Galore in December 2018. Since then, I’ve published every gift card deal that I could find, not taking a single day off from the site in the last six years.

I’m afraid that’s changing as this will be the last post on GC Galore.

Why GC Galore Will Be Ending

Working on this site takes up a lot of my time – significantly more than I’d anticipated when launching the site six years ago. Ultimately, I’ve enjoyed the hard work and, most of all, have enjoyed being of assistance to all of you readers.

Ads on the site and affiliate revenue through sites like Amazon have earned a somewhat decent amount of money, although when compared to the amount of time spent looking for deals and publishing them, the income has probably been minimum wage.

That’s been fine, but continuing the site would likely soon take up significantly more of my time. Following the election result tonight, my wife and I are planning on moving overseas in the new year. Due to issues accessing deals from overseas that I’ve experienced when traveling abroad over the last six years, I’d estimate that the same amount of work that I have to do now would take about twice as long due to problems with switching between VPNs and other issues. Knowing how long I spend working on the site already, that’s simply not a viable option.

As for why we’ll be moving overseas, there are various reasons behind this. A key one is that I’m an immigrant. I’m a legal immigrant, but an immigrant nonetheless. I come from a country that JD Vance regards as now being an Islamist country, despite it being led by a white, straight, non-Muslim male lawyer. Trump has said he wants to revoke status for those in the country legally (like myself).

My wife is still of child bearing age. My wife and I haven’t been silent about the problems with a Trump presidency and Trump previously wanted to have protestors shot and now has immunity for “official” acts.

We therefore don’t want to stick around to see what happens. We’re also disgusted that a significant portion of the country has bought into transphobia, racism, hardship for those who can afford it least, misogyny and other hatred. The fact that so many people will willingly vote for a rapist who tried to launch a coup when he lost four years ago is mind-blowing.

~

I was considering keeping GC Galore going at least through the holidays. However, I’m setting off on the Frequent Miler Million Mile Madness challenge tomorrow. I was originally planning on working the entire time on that trip and forgoing doing anything fun in order to do that. Then, when I returned, I’d be in Vegas for a couple of weeks, but wasn’t planning on having time to do much due to nonstop posting about gift card deals leading up to Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. Then we were due to be in Hawaii for a month, but with gift card deals continuing through to Christmas, I wasn’t expecting to see as much of Hawaii as I might’ve liked in order to continue working on this site.

If this site wasn’t going to continue though, it didn’t make sense to miss out on what could be two months of fun activities to focus on a site that would be ending in early 2025 anyway. As a result, I’m afraid that there’ll be no more deals posted on this site.

Thank You!

I’d just like to thank everyone for their support over the last six years. From sending me details about gift card deals that I hadn’t been aware of to sharing stories about how knowing about these deals had saved you money (or made you money), I’ve loved having a chance to make your life better.

Good luck with all your gift card activities in the future 🙂

Same for me in regard to your hard work & dedication and I appreciate you sharing all the latest deals you find. I come here almost every day and tried to support you by both reporting any good deals not posted and clicking on your links when possible. You will sorely be missed. Good luck in your next adventure and I hope that if you do return in 4 years or anytime before or after, you will get the site going again.

It’s a shame to see that you’ve squandered the value of your website by not transferring it to someone within a reasonable amount of time. This was a great site, and I will miss it. And you will likely miss the income you could’ve gained from selling it. At this point, I doubt anyone is checking it regularly anymore.

Six years finding the best place to live here and then we go and force you to rethink the whole thing. I’m 100% behind your decision and look forward to you spending a few years finding the best place to live on the other side of the pond! For every active poster here you must have 10,000 lurkers using your efforts. So glad we don’t have to say goodbye thanks to FM, safe travels Stephen, and thanks for all the devoted work!

Stephen,
You will be missed very much. Your kind, gentle nature, wonderful sense of humour is a breath of fresh air. And your energy and talent are amazing
I wish you the best.
Saddened because the shrill, demonizing media have instilled such fear in Shae and you.
I am an immigrant myself from a 3rd world country, and have seen this demonizing by the self serving establishment many times before.
You are a blessing in my life I never deserved.

You could just sell the domain and the web hosting contract — to allow people to get access to the back end. You will get far less for this without also producing key financial and engagement numbers, but the longer you wait on selling, the less valuable it will become.

I feel your frustration. As a trans man from France, I will also be moving back because I will be unable to have the necessary medical procedure if I become pregnant and do not want to carry the child to term.

So, Stephen unapologetically told us. Bravo to you, sir. He can’t keep politics out of it, because that is a major reason the site is ending.

Stephen, I’m sad that you are moving, but please reconsider. Trump is not going to do anything to you. [Bill Clinton was an alleged rapist too](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton_sexual_assault_and_misconduct_allegations), but he governed fine, and people voted for him.

If those allegations of sexual assault were true, that’s not acceptable either. And “a rapist isn’t going to rape you” isn’t quite the assurance you might think it is.

Not only is he a convicted rapist he’s also an adulterer. Idiot can’t keep his promises, no matter who he made them with including his wives. If it were legal he would have sex with his daughter, the look on her face when he said it on national tv, Priceless! Orange guy had 4 years to keep the promises he made: build a wall to end illegal immigration and make the Mexican gov. pay for it. He built a partial fence and we the people paid for it. Nice. Ben, you should have fact check the twat before you sold your soul. You were made for him. Enjoy your glass of bleach or a lightbulb up your ass – humpty dumpty’s answer for Covid. All talk, no action. He had everything in place in his first two years, Republican majority, the house and senate and NOTHING was accomplished by this moron.

Yes, I heard about that. However, I heard on CNN that those people only had temporary status in a way that went around the law. I wouldn’t consider deporting them as deporting “legal” immigrants.

Since you have lived here for many years “legally”, what do you have to worry about?

They’re in the country and working legally. As per the start of the article:

“You have to remove the people, and you have to bring them back to their own country. They are, in my opinion, it’s not legal,” Trump said

In Trump’s opinion they’re not legal despite the fact that they are in the country legally. He’s arbitrarily deciding that their legal status should be removed based on his own whims. I don’t want to trust my immigration status to him, especially when they’re planning on creating concentration camps (note that I said concentration camps, not death camps), etc.

So I worked on this site every single day for six years without ever taking a day off, providing the content for free and building it into a site with ~1.5 million page views per year. And that constitutes a failing site by a lazy leftist? I can see how you got so easily fooled by Trump.

She IS a genocidal Femi-Nazi who killed hundreds of thousands of people and her party risked all of their political power in subservience to a deranged foreign power. The Blue Team chose to look past a genocide for their own parochial interests, and took an L across the board for crimes against humanity. Comeuppance. 280,000 Palestinians survived Trump, but did not survive Biden/Harris, so there’s that.

I didn’t vote for DJ Trump, but my family will certainly survive him here deep in Trump country, as we did before. MAGA scooped up a lot of minorities this round, and they’re not all “garbage” people. Political vengeance against liberals was worth burning the country down for.

Name calling? Lol. I’m pretty sure he just called Trump voters – misogynist, racist, transphobes. He just forgot to add Nazi fascists. I’m amazed that someone like Stephen can travel across the country for years and think that 51% of US voters are Nazis, but that is the power of media brainwashing. You are being controlled by fear. I suggest trying some alternative news sources that don’t constantly lie about Trump being Hitler and his supporters being Nazis. Many minorities like myself have realized its just a bunch of lies.

I think it was clear in my message that I was using “Nazis” (which some media/Democrats actually used to describe Trump supporters, like at Madison Square Garden) as shorthand for all the slanderous insults hurled at Trump supporters. 51% of the voters chose Trump. I know a lot of Trump supporters, and we aren’t a bunch of racists, misogynist, transphobes. We are decent Americans that have reasonable disagreements, like thinking 10 million unvetted illegal immigrants in 4 years is not a good idea for the country, Kamala/Biden has done a terrible job with the economy/inflation, US taxpayers shouldn’t be paying for gender reassignment surgery for illegal immigrants (which Kamala is on record supporting), etc. The mainstream media/the Democrats constantly demonize Trump and his supporters. And you wrote: “We’re also disgusted that a significant portion of the country has bought into transphobia, racism, hardship for those who can afford it least, misogyny and other hatred.”

Brainwashing… try Trumps words. He has proven he’s a racist “black jobs”, misogynist “She certainly can’t handle President VladimirPutin, President Xi of China. She will get overwhelmed, melt down” … the words that come out of his hateful mouth every single day make the case… not ‘liberal media’ as the right loves to parrot over and over ad nauseam.
