Tips & Ideas

The terms of this Hyatt Place & Hyatt House Amex Offer state that gift card purchases are excluded, but that’s not necessarily the case. If you can buy a physical Hyatt gift card at the front desk of a Hyatt Place or Hyatt House property, that should trigger the Amex Offer statement credit.

That worked for me last year with a similar Hyatt Regency Amex Offer. One thing to emphasize is that I think it has to be a physical gift card rather than an eGift card. That’s because Hyatt eGift card orders are processed and fulfilled by Buyatab. Gift cards processed by Buyatab work in a similar way to those bought from companies like CashStar, so they don’t trigger Amex Offers. Physical gift cards on the other hand are processed by the hotel, hence why those purchases do trigger the offer.

This offer appears to be highly targeted as my wife and I only received it on one card each. There might be a 7,500 Membership Rewards version of the offer, so keep an eye out for that one too.
