Tips & Ideas
HP sells both physical and digital gift cards on its site, so you can buy a $250 HP gift card to lock in the 20% discount.
In the past, you earned portal cashback when buying their gift cards and then again when redeeming them. I’ve no idea if that’s still the case, but it’s definitely worth clicking through from a portal just in case it does. Here are the current rates for HP.
The terms of the offer state that you have to visit hp.com/go/amex, but that just redirects to the HP website. They had the same terms in past offers, but you didn’t have to follow that link in order to trigger the Amex Offer.
This might be targeted at business cards as those were the only cards we received the offer on.
This offer comes at an annoying time for me. I’d been holding off on buying a new HP laptop for several months as I’d been hoping a new Amex Offer would appear. I got tired of waiting though and received my new laptop a few days ago – too late to take advantage of this offer!
CardCash buys $250 HP gift cards for $195, so not quite break even. If the portal cashback were to track though then it’d be profitable – depends on if you’re willing to risk $5 to make even more than that.
In the past when you could load the offer to every Amex card you had, giving it a try on one card would be a no brainer as that’d increase the maximum potential profit.
