Tips & Ideas
Nordstrom gift cards don’t go on sale very often, so getting a 13.04% discount on $115 worth of their gift cards is a pretty good deal. Whether that’s profitable for reselling is a different matter as it’ll depending on the rates available to you. Bitmo is sadly only offering 1x Perk Points on Nordstrom gift cards right now; that’s worth 0.1%, so that does little to move the needle when deciding if the deal is worth doing or not.
There are several things to note with this promotion. First, it’s only open to BitmoPerks members; that’s free to join, but you’ll need to take the necessary steps to do that.
Second, some Bitmo promotions allow you to swap the gift card brand that you’ve bought for one which has higher value; that’s sadly not the case with this latest promo.
Third, when entering the promo code, it’ll show up as -$0 value rather than $15 or $115. Don’t worry about that – so long as it shows the NORD15 promo code being applied, you’re good to go. Having said that, it doesn’t hurt to take a screenshot as evidence.
Fourth, you can pay with PayPal which means you could use the temporary personal Amex Platinum $30 PayPal credit.
Finally, the $15 bonus gift card should show up about one minute after completing the transaction, so don’t worry if it doesn’t immediately show in your wallet.
I tried to buy this using Apple Pay. Nothing happened, but now it says I’ve already used this promotion. Is this typical of Bitmo?
Also, I had several promotional gift cards which seemed to have disappeared. Do those expire?
(New to Bitmo, thanks.)
I’m afraid I’m not sure how it works with Apple Pay. With PayPal, after the payment is complete you have to click ‘Done’ in the top-right corner to return to Bitmo which is when the gift cards appear. I wonder if it’s a similar thing with Apple Pay.
With regards to the promo cards, are those ones which Bitmo just randomly gave you rather than being associated with any deals where you bought a gift card? If so, I think those cards do expire. In some cases, they stay in your account if you don’t view the gift card number and PIN, but if you do look at those details they expire after 24 hours – it depends on how each promotion runs. If you ever buy a gift card from a deal like this to get a free gift card, neither of those should ever disappear as they’re regular gift cards rather than promo cards.
