A few people have asked in the last day or so about a Newegg BankAmeriDeal they’re seeing on Bank of America credit cards. It’s giving 15% back as a statement credit which seems like an awesome earning opportunity seeing as Newegg sells various third party gift cards and often gives discounts on them.
Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely to work.
BankAmeriDeals seem to have moved to a shopping portal-like format over the last year or so, rather than being card-linked offers like Amex Offers, Chase Offers, Citi Offers, etc. As you can see on the screenshot above, it says you ‘Must Use Link’ for the Newegg offer. I therefore believe that it’s functioning like a shopping portal, using an affiliate link to track your purchase and subsequently pay out the requisite cashback.
That’s an issue for this Newegg offer though because Newegg’s affiliate program doesn’t pay out on gift card purchases. It could still be worth a try, but it could mean forgoing earning 4x on an Amex Business Gold card, a 2% Newegg Amex Offer and a separate electronics Amex Offer that stacks.
Nearly every BankAmeriDeal on my account shows that same ‘Must Use Link’ wording and so I doubt that any of them will track gift card purchases unless the retailer’s affiliate program usually pays out on gift card purchases on all shopping portals.
Yeah. Duh! Thank you for being better
