Update 10/9/24: If you got a blank screen with this offer the other day, it’s worth checking again now as more people have been targeted. h/t Roman.

Key Terms
- This is a limited time offer. The promotion will end on the earlier of (a) 11:59pm PT on 9/30/2024 or (b) the time at which 14,167 customers have redeemed the offer. The promotion button will expire concurrently. Amazon.com reserves the right to cancel or modify this offer at any time.
- Offer is available by invitation only, is non-transferable, is not redeemable for cash, and may not be resold.
- This offer is for 30% off (up to a $30 total discount) on the purchase of eligible products. To redeem, Eligible Card Members must first activate the offer, then apply the promotion at checkout for a purchase of eligible products using Membership Rewards points for at least a portion of the purchase. Eligible Card Members are U.S. American Express Card Members with a eligible Card that earns Membership Rewards points and is linked to their Amazon Site account through the Shop with Points enrollment process. See full Shop with Points Terms and Conditions for details:www.amazon.com/amexmr
- This offer only applies to eligible products. Eligible products are products sold and shipped by Amazon.com (including discounted promotional items sold and shipped by Amazon.com). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities are not eligible, even if they are fulfilled by Amazon.com or Prime eligible. Digital content products are also not eligible.
- Maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $30 per eligible Card Member or per one Amazon account.
- Offer may not be combined with other offers.
- Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among eligible products in your order. If any of the items in your order are subsequently returned, your refund will equal the original price of the product, less the proportional amount of the discount. The total discount on the unreturned amount of your order will then be less than the maximum discount availed in your order.
- If any of the products in your order are returned, subject to Amazon’s return policy, you will receive a refund of the amount charged to your Card, subject to Amazon’s refund policy. If you would like the Membership Rewards points returned to your Card Account instead of a refund, you must contact American Express within 60 days of receipt of the credit.
- If a refund cannot be processed by American Express for reasons including but not limited to closure of your Card Account, Amazon may issue an Amazon Gift Card to you for an amount equal to the value of the Membership Rewards points used towards your product.
- Promotional offers (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.
- This promotion is available only to Amazon.com customers who are Eligible Card Members. Shipping charges may apply to eligible products.
- Promotional discount is applied before shipping, taxes and fees.
- If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
- Terms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards program apply. Visit membershiprewards.com/terms for more information. Participating partners and available rewards are subject to change without notice.
Tips & Ideas
These offers are targeted, so you might see a different version of the above offers, or you might not see one at all.
Be sure to check what discount you’re actually given when applying the requisite number of Membership Rewards to your order. My targeted offer has a headline rate of 40% off (as per the screenshot above), but in two other locations on the page it says the discount is 30% with a max discount of $30. As it turns out, my offer is indeed only giving 30% off.
If you get an offer requiring that you redeem 1,428 points, you might actually need to redeem 1,429 points. That takes off $10 which would normally be a poor use of Membership Rewards points, but in this case you’re getting an additional discount which makes it more worthwhile.
I saw the same behavior as you reported (headline “Get 40% off eligible products when using a minimum of 1428 Membership Rewards points. Maximum discount $40.”, but offer terms say “Add eligible products sold and shipped by Amazon.com¹ to your shopping cart and get 30% off, up to $30. To redeem the full value of the promotional offer, add eligible products totaling at least $100 to your shopping cart. Promotion can be redeemed in one or more transactions for a total discount of up to $30.”).
Note that the language does not mention any minimum points requirement for this $30 offer, and indeed when I went to use it, it took $30 off after using just 1 point.
I don’t know if the $40 offer actually exists at the moment–it’s probably just left over from an old promo.
I think they’re saying that the $10 + $30 off = $40 off $100 = 40%. It’s not like how it used to work but it’s not 100% illogical
Only 40% illogical
If anyone is getting an “undefined” error when activating this offer, try incognito mode. I missed out on the July promo because I could not activate the offer, but was able to fix the issue this time around.
This is strange. Clicked on link, offered 15% off $100 max $15. Put $100 in cart, used 1 point, checkout page takes 10% off, not 15%. Huh?
This time around, those who are not targeted get a blank screen instead of an “ineligible” message.
