Tips & Ideas

On the face of it, this doesn’t seem like a great deal as you have to redeem 1,428 Membership Rewards points rather than the usual 1 point for these types of offers. Despite that, it’s still worth taking advantage of.

When checking out, it’ll ask you how much you want to save by redeeming points. If you enter ‘$10’, that’ll redeem 1,429 Membership Rewards points which, ordinarily, would be terrible value. However, you’ll also get 40% off on up to $100 spend, so redeeming 1,429 points effectively saves you $50 which works out to be a 3.5cpp (cent per point) redemption which is much better.

You can use this offer to buy third party gift cards on Amazon, but note that buying Amazon gift cards doesn’t work. If possible, pay with a card that has an Amazon Amex Offer loaded to it too.

With these types of offers, there are often other targeted versions of the offer giving different discount levels, different Membership Rewards redemption requirements, etc., so be sure to verify what your specific offer is. Some customers aren’t targeted whatsoever unfortunately.
