(EXPIRED) Amazon: Buy $250 3rd Party Gift Cards For $200 When Paying With 1 Membership Rewards Point

Update 4/8/20: This is working again even if you took advantage of the offer last time. The promotion started working again a fortnight ago, but only on regular merchandise – not gift cards – which is why I hadn’t republished it here. That’s now changed and it’s possible to get another $50 off $250 gift cards. There’s a new expiry date of April 20, but it might end sooner than that. (h/t DoC)

Update 2/2/20: Per Doctor of Credit, the expiry date of this offer has changed once again. This time it’s due to end on February 15 which is two weeks later than the shortened date from a couple of days ago, but still two weeks earlier than the promo initially listed.

Update 1/31/20: This deal ends tonight as Amazon has changed the end date, so you only have a couple of hours to take advantage of this if you’d not gotten around to doing it already.

Tips & Ideas

This offer works on third party gift cards (but not Amazon gift cards), so it’s a great way to save on those for either personal use or reselling. We’re spending this summer in Alaska, so I’ll be stocking up on even more Airbnb gift cards.

As always with these offers, be sure to only redeem 1 Membership Rewards point (which will take $0.01 off your total) as redeeming any more than that is poor value.

Somewhat amazingly, both my wife and I were able to activate the offer first time as that doesn’t usually happen with these offers. If it says you’re not eligible, you should be able to follow these steps to get yourself targeted:

1. Delete any American Express cards already enrolled in Shop With Points from your payment methods on Amazon.
2. Add at least one American Express card that earns Membership Rewards points back as a payment method.
3. Re-enroll in Shop With Points (our affiliate link)
4. Try to activate the offer (our affiliate link)
5. You probably won’t be able to activate the offer immediately, so try again every day for the next week or so and you should hopefully be successful.
