Adidas ran a similar deal last year, except it ended up being a 25% discount on both $100 and $250 denominations. They’ve changed things up a little this year as it’s only valid on $100 denominations – sort of.

If you add a $250 Adidas gift card to your cart it takes off $50 which is a 20% discount. That’s because you’re limited to two $100 gift cards per purchase which means the max discount is $50.

The best denomination to buy therefore depends on a couple of things. If you’re buying for personal use, only buy $100 gift cards as then you get the full 25% discount. If you’re buying to resell though, you might be able to get better resale rates by buying $250 cards, so even though you’re only getting a 20% rather than 25% discount you might still end up making more profit.

Something to be aware of is that the company that processes payment for these purchases can be ludicrously fussy about letting you submit an order. I’m not talking about them insta-cancelling your order – I’m talking about them simply throwing up error messages about your payment method even though there’s nothing wrong with it.

It’s sometimes possible to get zero orders through. Other times you might get one or two, then it’ll start acting up. Other people have the magic beans needed to persuade them to trade for the gift cards.

It could be worth paying with a card that has an Adidas Chase Offer loaded to it if you have that. Although payment is processed by a third party, there have been reports in the past of these purchases triggering the Chase Offer statement credits.
