Update 4/28/20: Per a reader email, the limit of 3 gift cards per month is based across all brands, rather than being able to order 3 of each brand. That makes this deal far less interesting, but certainly worth bearing in mind if a 20% discount on any of the brands is of interest seeing as it only takes 10 minutes of watching videos/answering quizzes.
A separate data point states that you can buy 3 gift cards per month as well as redeem points for 3 gift cards per month for a total of 6 per month. You’ll obviously need a ton of points in order to have enough to redeem for 1 gift card, let alone 3!

I shared earlier how AARP Rewards is offering a 12% discount when buying gift cards for the Albertsons family of brands including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons and more (see this post for more).
While doing that, I noticed that they’re also offering discounts of 10-20% on certain gift card brands. The 10% discounts are available without any further requirements, but to gain access to the 20% discounts you have to complete certain tasks.
Other than downloading the app, all the tasks involve watching a few short videos and answering quizzes, so it’s fairly straightforward if you’re interested. You’ll also earn AARP Rewards points for completing each task which in turn can be redeemed for other gift cards and rewards.
To see exactly what was involved, I completed all 7 tasks that make up Challenge 2 below. Each video was no more than 90 seconds, so it doesn’t take long to watch them all. The videos auto-pause if you click to a different tab or window, so you do have to actually have the video playing on your screen in order to earn the credit.
All these offers are due to expire on April 30, so we’ll hopefully see a new set from May 1. There’s a limit of 3 gift cards per month; that’s per brand, so you can buy 3 of as many of these brands as you like provided you complete the relevant tasks.
In case you’re not familiar with AARP, it only costs $16 per year, with the cost dropping to $12 the first year when setting up auto-renewal. You can be any age to join – I signed up in my mid-30s and have kept my membership in the few years since then because it can get us discounts at hotels, Outback Steakhouse, museums, etc.
