- Qualifying purchase means a purchase at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties made during the offer period with your enrolled American Express Card and which is in an amount of at least $300 USD as posted to your account, following conversion from a foreign currency, if applicable, in accordance with your Cardmember Agreement.
- Offer only valid on room rate and room charges.
- Offer not valid for lodging stays that are paid for before the promotion start date or after the promotion end date.
Tips & Ideas
The terms exclude gift card purchases, but if you buy a gift card from the front desk of a participating property, it should trigger the Amex Offer statement credit. That allows you to lock in the 20% discount in case you don’t need to spend $300 on a Marriott stay right now, or to resell the gift card profitably.
Several Marriott brands are excluded, presumably because there’s a separate Marriott Amex Offer for their luxury brands.
Only a few of my cards were targeted for this. It’s listed on the Amex Connect site (link is above), although I’m having a hard time getting it added to one of my Marriott cards.
