Tips & Ideas
This is a targeted offer, so you might not have any offer on your account at all (my wife wasn’t targeted). There are often variations of this type of offer too; I got 30% off on up to $100 of spend, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are other offers giving 10% back or 40% back.
To have any chance of being eligible, you have to enroll at least one Amex Membership Rewards-earning card in Shop With Points on Amazon (our affiliate link). Once you’ve done that, try activating the offer (also our affiliate link). If it doesn’t let you activate the offer immediately, try every day because sometimes it can take a few days to become eligible, although there’s no guarantee you will become eligible.
When it comes to purchasing items on Amazon, note that items have to be both sold by and shipped by Amazon. That can be a pain due to the large number of third party sellers on the platform, so an easy way to take advantage of these deals is to buy a third party gift card as those are both sold and shipped by Amazon despite it saying that it’s sold and delivered by ACI Gift Cards, LLC. I normally buy an Airbnb or PetSmart gift card for personal use to lock in the discount.
When redeeming the offer, be sure to only redeem one Membership Rewards point. Redeeming any more than that represents poor value for your points
