Tips & Ideas
There are some good deals here which will be made even better if you can get any value from the 2x fuel points you’ll earn. Note that payment for gift cards bought from Kroger online are processed by Blackhawk Network, so they don’t code as a grocery purchase.
When checking out, be sure to check that the cards and any associated bonus Kroger gift cards have been added to your cart correctly. The deals listed above are what’s displayed at the time of them going live, but Kroger (well, Blackhawk Network) has a tendency to change one or two deals after they’ve gone live when there’s a large batch of new deals.
Is it safe to assume that VGCs and MCGCs will not work as a payment method for this deal, since it is processed by BHN?
I’ve never tried, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
After doing some online research, there are posts on DoC that suggest that MCGCs from GiftCards.com may work, while VGCs do not. I just always assumed that BHN would not allow you to use open-loop prepaid cards for fraud prevention reasons (as CardCash and WeGift do not), but maybe that’s not true. I normally use open-loop cards to buy gift cards online at Target and AARP, where I know they will work.
Well, perhaps I will give it a shot now.
Curious about this too, so just tried a $200 mcgc (from Staples) for a $175 purchase. Transaction failed. Any particular tips on getting these to work?
My info comes from the 11/22/22 post on DoC, which says the following in the comments: “The Mastercard gift cards I got from the Giftcards.com sale actually work to buy [gift cards on Kroger.com]! A Visa I got a while ago from them does not however.” That’s all the information I have.
I cannot try this myself at the moment because I need an AirBnB card, and I have no $200+ MCGCs left.
