Here’s my advice: Around 11:30 am when a deal comes up, log in to the AARP rewards website, check the cart, and make sure nothing is inside of it. Then make sure you are logged in and good to go. Open up Paypal.com on a separate tab, log in to that, and make sure everything is OK there. When you’re already logged in to both systems it takes less time. Also, when you use Paypal instead of manually typing in the credit card info, it shaves off precious time, too. At around 11:58 am ET open up your clock on your computer (it’s under Open Date and Time Preferences if you use a Mac). That way you can see exactly the second it hits 12. Refresh the AARP Rewards page then and then click through, using Paypal.
For what it’s worth, I didn’t get the Home Depot gc deal either. It was frustrating because it was in my cart but it wouldn’t let me check out the gift card. I called them and they said it was all sold out. So I share your frustration with the website!
