These might be localized offers. To see if this offer is available where you are, open the Uber app (not Uber Eats) and go to Menu > Wallet > Earn Uber Cash With Visa. If this is the first time using this feature, I think you might have to enroll in it, but it’s been a couple of years since I first used the feature and so can’t remember for sure.

The way this works is that you’ll earn 20% back in Uber Cash (rather than actual cashback) when paying with a Visa card which is in your Uber wallet. You don’t need to link the particular offers to your cards once you’ve registered for Uber Visa Local Offers in the first place – provided you pay with a Visa card added to the Uber app, you’re good to go.

With a maximum reward of $20 per purchase, you’ll max out these offers when spending $100. You can buy a gift card in-restaurant to lock in the discount for either personal use or reselling, but it’s possible to do even better.

First, you can use a Visa card that earns more on dining purchases such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve which gets 3x Ultimate Rewards. If you’re doing the IHOP deal, link your Visa card in the Dosh app as IHOP is showing up as 5% cashback for me, but that might be a localized offer too.

For Applebee’s, you can currently get a $10 bonus card for every $50 you spend on gift cards. The $10 bonus cards expire on February 28, 2021, but it’s a decent deal because it means you can get a $50 gift card, a $10 bonus card and $10 Uber Cash for $50.

If you happen to have an IHOP or Applebee’s Chase Offer, that’s another way to get additional savings.
