Some shopping portals had been explicitly listing gift card purchases as being eligible for cashback/rewards, so be sure to click through from one in the hopes that this tracks – here are the current rates.
Update: I clicked through from Rakuten as they were one of the sites previously offering cashback/rewards on gift card purchases and they’re at 10%/10x today. The purchase immediately tracked, so if that pays out that’s an additional 1,700 Membership Rewards I’ll be earning (or $17 if your account is set up to earn cashback rather than Membership Rewards).

If you tried to add a new credit card to make the payment. make sure you have selected state from the dropdown in payment method. had the same issue, but it was fixed after I did this.
I purchased 2 – $100 Lowe’s gc on 11/30/20.
On 12/23/20, I went to print them following the link provided in my email and came to “Items Returned”. After placing a call to Sam’s, they said there was a “glitch” in their system causing the return and would honor the discounted price, I would have to make the purchase, then call them back and give them a code.
Since then I’ve noticed Rakuten’s cash back terms have changed, all gift cards are now excluded among many other items.
