The Deal
- There are several different versions of an Amex Offer on Marriott Bonvoy credit cards which can be used three times:
- Spend $500 & get 1,000 bonus points
- Spend $4,000 & get 8,000 bonus points
- Spend $20,000 & get 25,000 bonus points
Key Terms
- Expires December 31, 2020.
- An “eligible transaction” means a purchase made with your enrolled Card on or before 12/31/2020.
- Each time you make one or more eligible transactions totaling at least $500 you will receive 1,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points, up to 3 times.
- Cash advances, other fees and charges such as interest, annual fees and foreign currency conversion fees are not eligible transactions and do not qualify for this offer.
Tips & Ideas
I was targeted for the $500/1,000 bonus points offer, but data points on Frequent Miler indicate there are at least two other versions of these spending offers.
The $20,000 offer is poor as it’s only a 1.25x bonus which requires a lot of spend, whereas the other options are more reasonable. I personally wouldn’t bother with the $4,000/8,000 offer, but it’s not a bad option if you’re wanting to stock up on Marriott points. Marriott credit cards earn 2x on non-bonused spend, so spending in $4,000 increments increases that to 4x.
I still need to take advantage of the Staples Amex Offer which is loaded to the same Marriott card this spending offer is on. That Staples offer is good on up to $400 of spend, so spending an additional $100 will trigger the first of three possible spending bonuses.
