Tips & Ideas
This digital coupon is interesting because it’s in addition to a digital coupon offering 4x fuel points on fixed-value Visa and Mastercard gift cards. It might therefore be the case that the two coupons will stack with each other on the first $100 spent on fixed-value VGCs and MGCs per transaction.
If that is indeed the case, it’ll hopefully means you’re effectively earning 8x rather than 6x. Fixed-value VGCs and MGCs earn 2x fuel points as standard, so the other 4x digital coupon adds an extra 2x. This new digital coupon doesn’t appear to be set up as a 4x coupon though, even though the end result is the same as a 4x coupon seeing as spending $100 on VGCs or MGCs earns fuel points worth 40c off per gallon.
If the deals do indeed stack and work the way I’ve mentioned above, it means you’d be earning 80c off per gallon of gas for every $100 of VGCs or MGCs purchased. That’s an excellent deal, especially seeing as Kroger allows you to save on up to 35 gallons of gas. If you’re able to max that out, you’d be saving $28 for every $100 card. I think the $100 cards come with a $5.95 activation fee, so you could profit by more than $20, although your overall savings will be limited by how many times you need to fill up your vehicle(s) before the points expire at the end of October.
I guess this must be a targeted coupon then seeing as you’re getting the error message.
With regards to the 6x, the fixed-value cards normally earn 2x, but when there’s a promo on they earn an additional 2x to make up the 4x. If there was a similar digital coupon that stacked with a 4x promo, it would presumably add on an extra 2x seeing as 2x of the additional 4x digital coupon would be base points which you’re still only going to earn once, hence the 6x overall.
