In case you’re not familiar with Slide, it’s an app created by Raise which sells first-hand gift cards. Rather than offering a discount, they offer a flat cashback rate of 4% for every gift card brand listed in the app.
In many cases, it’s possible to get better discounts than this elsewhere (oftentimes on Raise itself if you’re looking for personal use), although there are some high value brands like Home Depot, eBay and iTunes where 4% cashback for an instant, first-hand gift card is a decent return.
And so it is with Walmart gift cards. I haven’t used Slide since failing to buy a gift card the first time I tried using it, but EW gave me the heads up that Walmart is back in stock in the app as apparently it comes and goes.
For comparison, Fluz offers less than that (it’s out of stock on Fluz as I write this post, but I think it’s usually ~1%), Pay With Ibotta offers 0.5% and has to be paid for with a debit card, while MPX offers 0.5 MileagePlus miles per dollar, hence why 4% cashback from Slide is notable.

I tried two perfectly valid credit cards and they both were rejected when I tried to buy a Walmart card. In fact, the fraud detection dept at BOTH of my credit card companies just called./emailed me to report possible fraud. Are these Slide guys legit?
They’re certainly legit as the app is created by Raise, but runs separately to the regular Raise app. There’s definitely some stringent fraud checks though from both Slide and banks – presumably because it’s such a new app. Very inconvenient though and it’s why I haven’t bothered trying to buy from them again as 4% on most of these brands just isn’t worth the hassle.

Keep getting transaction incomplete. Each time a rep unlocks my account and verify to try again and it keeps doing it. Gave up and not worth it for the hassle.
