This is the first time Staples has run an in-store deal on Visa gift cards in months, so it’s nice to see this kind of offer making a return.
Some Staples stores can be very strict about enforcing the 1 per customer rule, so hopefully you have more lenient stores near you where they’re happy to sell you more than one at a time.
As always, this kind of deal is best maximized if you have a Chase Ink Plus or Ink Cash card because of those cards earning 5x/5%. Each card you buy will earn 1,000 Ultimate Rewards/$10. Otherwise, there’s the Staples Amex Offer which is still around if you haven’t maxed that out yet.
I’m not sure if Dosh is still offering cashback at Staples when paying with a linked card. I don’t have a Staples near me right now, so I’m not sure if the fact that Staples isn’t showing in the app is because of my location or because they no longer offer cashback there. Gift card purchases have been clawed back in the past, but if it’s still available in the app it’s always worth a try just in case the cashback sticks. Edit: As per EW’s comment below, Staples is still on the Dosh app. However, it’s for online purchases rather than in-store and so won’t stack with this offer.
In Dosh, I have 2% cash back up to $5 for for online purchases only and I live a couple miles from Staples.
Great – good to see that it’s still around. It showed up for me last week in Colorado, but I don’t have a Staples nearby in Kansas this week and even searching a different zip code in Dosh didn’t seem to help.
