Tips & Ideas
There are two different bonus rewards coupons at the above link – one offers 20% back in rewards for regular members and the other gives 25% back in rewards for VIP Rewards members.
What’s potentially interesting is that the 20% offer for regular members states the following…
Offer excludes: Epson ink; all electronic labelers and labeling accessories; computers; tablets; e-readers; monitors; TVs; postage; gift and prepaid cards; performance protection plans; Secure Shredding and Storage services; Tech Services and all third party services.
…whereas the VIP Rewards coupon doesn’t include that wording. That could mean one of two things. The first is that VIP Rewards members can earn 25% back in rewards on gift cards which would be awesome. The other option is that they neglected to include that wording for VIP Rewards members by accident and that you won’t earn 25% back.
I think that latter option is the more likely one, but if you’re a VIP Rewards member it might be worth giving it a try in case you do earn the rewards.
The general terms at the bottom of the promo page states, “Office Depot® OfficeMax® Rewards (“Program”): Rewards are earned on the price paid for an item or service before tax and after deducting all discounts, the value of free gifts and the value of any rewards and/or merchandise certificates/cards applied to that purchase. No rewards are earned on delivery fees; postage stamps; gift or pre-paid cards; Secure Shredding and Storage services; Office Depot Marketplace items; tech, furniture, marketing or administrative services; Centriq services or any third party services. Program rewards are paid out monthly https://www.officedepot.com only as a rewards certificate when a minimum of $3 is earned. Program rewards will expire at the end of each calendar quarter if less than $3 has been earned. Bonus rewards are paid out separately and do not contribute to the calculation of Program rewards. Rewards certificates are redeemable for future purchases at Office Depot and OfficeMax stores, officedepot.com, or by phone at 800-GO-DEPOT. Limit 1 account per household/business. Visit officedepot.com/rewards or call 1-866-562-3872 for Terms and Conditions.”
So the general terms exclude gift cards.
Yep, they exclude them normally, but I figured that the fact that they didn’t include that wording for the 25% offer but did for the 20% one might mean they’ve set up the 25% offer differently for some reason. Doubtful, but thought it was worth highlighting just in case.
