There’s a limit of 1 per customer, but you can always get around this by visiting on different days or by going to different stores. If you’re lucky, a cashier at one store will be willing to ring up more than one for you; I’m not sure if that’d need to be done in separate transactions or if buying 2+ in the same transaction will eliminate the activation fee on all of them.

You can stack this deal in a couple of ways to save even more. First, there’s a Staples Amex Offer that gives $10 back or 1,000 Membership Rewards when spending $40.

Second, if you link that card in the Dosh app, you’ll earn an additional $5 cashback. That’s because Dosh offers 3% cashback, although you’re limited to $5 per day. Gift card purchases are meant to be excluded, but that’s not been enforced up to now.

Be aware that some people have had fraud issues with Mastercard gift cards in the past.
